We had an easy time with the awning. It took us about 3 and a half hours. Considering that we are both in out 70's, not too bad. The directions were very easy to follow. I read the directions and my spouse and a friend did the actual install. The colors are awesome and match up with the colors of our house and trim.

The reason for our purchase is that our bedroom is on the second floor of our house and faces directly west into the afternoon sun. Over the summer it can get really hot. With the awning the room stayed cooler by several degrees. I would recommend General Awnings to anyone who is thinking about buying.

We bought awnings for three windows that face full sun almost all the time. We also live in the Triangle-Valley in California where the summer temps rise to over 115 degrees. Because of the intense sun that wall retained heat and warmed our house. The choice was turn up the air conditioning or buy awnings. Our opinion is that we totally love the awning. It took about 1.5 hours to put together and install, mainly because I did have to work on a 8' ladder to install it, thus was doing a lot of up and down on that ladder for measuring and setup, before I drilled any holes.

I think the instructions were more than adequate, but I do recall that there were a couple of areas they could have been much clearer. That said, I do not remember which ones in particular at this time. In any event, the quality is superb, we love the appearance from both inside the room and from the outside.
